new gallery1526 policy

GALLERY1526 EVENT CONTRACT 5/2011

Gallery1526 is a wholesale gallery that provides event space to artists. After our one year anniversary at encyclomedia- we have redesigned our format- to ensure that all of the ‘good” stays around and the things that aren’t working…well…that they are left behind.

Under this new design, you will find that some of the “traditional” gallery procedures are the same while others are very different. First and foremost- the 10% - We are keeping that the same. J

Having decided that we want that to be our core commitment to the community - the foundation and techniques we use are critical for success. We look forward to building every event with this concept. We must work as a unit to bring these events to life and to share the talent that will keep gracing our walls.

Event Staff:

Security: gallery will hire security within added budget or artist(s) with the approved reference check of gallery1526 can hire security.

Bar Staff for gallery1526 must be able to pour in the state of GA- meaning that they are of legal age and that there is noting legally prohibiting bartender.

The alcohol must be free. The alcohol must only be provided to our guests who are over the age of 21. Underage drinking will not be tolerated at gallery1526. We will also require that bar staff refuse alcohol to ANY persons who are over the limit and at that time we will need to be notified.

Door person: gallery1526 will allow artists to have a door person for events. The gallery will not be held responsible for monies collected unless the door person was hired or volunteered for gallery1526.

Caterers: gallery1526 will not provide food for guests unless hired by artists. At that time- a separate contract will be issued for the sole purpose of edibles.

Prints, Merchandise, T-shirts, etc:

ANY product sold at gallery1526 during an event or for the length of the show defined in artist’s contract- shall be held to the 10% commission. This is due within 14 days of the purchase.

ALL SHOWS:

Gallery1526 will work with artists to produce a conceptual design and layout- however- final say belongs to gallery1526 in regards to where the art will ultimately hang for the duration of the show. It is also understood that all art will be hung according to the size, shape, and feel of the space that gallery1526 provides. The artist will bring in work “hang ready” – meaning- please provide your own weight appropriate wire and hooks- It keeps the pieces safe and up where they should be.

What the gallery provides for all shows:

-We have a website which provides information about our events as well as links to the artist’s pages. www.gallery1526.com

-We also have a FB page – PLEASE “ like” this page- Show your support and stay informed. We use this age more than any other for events and announcements.

-All the manual aspects of hang art and removal. If you have large work or very heavy pieces- you may be asked to assist.

-And of course…the wonderful and large 10,000 sq feet of space for our event that includes a pool table, ample free parking, a kitchen area, 3 bathrooms, a soundstage, and digital televisions that can play loops, or other media.

-Help with booking and organizing performance art for the show- such as but not limited to: fire dancers, spoken word, bands, body art, live painting, drawing classes.

-DIGITAL invite for the show. We ask that the artists keep the invite we provide for the show if they want to have a printed version.

GROUP SHOWS:

Gallery1526 will bring in a team or artists whose work “flows” in the space. It will be a titled show that expresses the talents and dynamics of each of you.

Required Responsibilities of Artists:

To be part of a group show, YOU will need to invite guests. You will need to promote to your community and help assist us with getting the word out about the show. It does very little good to have a show without a proper audience to see it.

Please promote ONLY on sites that are in the best interest of all artists- meaning- No drugs/ violence/ or other sites that are not G rated. ;)

SOLO shows:

These requirements must be agreed by both parties :

A guest list of A MINIMUM of 100 attendees must be presented.

* If the artist can provide guest list - we will then decide the length of the show.

All alcohol must be purchased by the artist as well as any food provided to their guests. The gallery will assist- (if needed) in staffing the event and promoting on the website and social networks.

Solo Shows will only run for a maximum of ONE month long (or 30 days) and will be limited to the main gallery and the central gallery.

(FINAL ART) Senior exhibit show:

Gallery1526 will work with colleges to showcase and provide event space for graduating seniors. Please call curator Melanie B. Pierce for more information.

Special Event Shows:

All alcohol must be purchased or sponsored by the event planner(s). Any Catering will be handled by the event planner(s) as well as any other food, gifts, or tickets provided to their guests. The gallery will assist- (if needed) in staffing the event and promoting on the website and social networks.

The gallery will also use its resources for costs to assist in shows that are HOSTED by the gallery.

I appreciate all of you for a great first year. I am looking forward to where we are going now that we have some new ideas and new methods for success!

Create Good Things!
